For the second year in a row, a bill about the BCS has been sent to congress. The bill this year is very simple and states that the BCS cannot use the term "National Chapionship Game" unless that game is determined by a playoff like in every other sport.
I dont know what this will accomplish, because it still needs to get passed, but i think that just the idea that bills are even getting through to congress speaks a lot about how much americans hate the system. Even Texas QB Colt McCoy say that college football needs a playoff even though his team is the beneficiary of the BCS system as they will be in the title game. Thats another thing. People are getting behind the playoff idea and i think sooner or later, we will see one in college football.

Complaints
Alright, so this year the BCS machine actually got the championship game right. It should be Texas-Alabama. But i have something else to complain about. For the first time TWO small conference teams, Boise St. and TCU got BCS bowls. That means that two teams would get a chance to prove their worth against a big conference team, like Florida or Georgia Tech. Now why am I mad at this, you ask? Because guess what the BCS Machine did?! They put the two in THE SAME GAME!!! Are you joking?!?! They deprived the nation of getting to witness a Cinderella story, maybe two! Instead when the game is over, we will have no idea whether a TCU or a Boise can beat a Florida. The BCS did this to protect itself from controversy. They don't want to give us any reason to believe that the small conference teams are worthy. This is total garbage, and needs to be stopped. That BCS has got to go...

1 second really IS the difference
Texas will play in the national championship, as you all have heard by now, I'm sure. But let's take a look at how Texas got to the big game. In my last post, I ended with "as i write this, the score Texas 10 Nebraska 9..." Well craziness DID ensue, but it didn't finish the job. Nebraska, hit a field goal with less than a minute left to take a 12-10 lead, but Texas moved the ball down the field with the help of a bad kickoff and a horse-collar penalty and kicked the game winner with :00 showing on the clock, even after a near clock management debacle. a 13-12 victory lands them in the championship vs. 'Bama. Here are the highlights from this game, if you haven't seen these, they are must see material.
This year, Texas is on the right side of the :01 clock. last year, Texas lost this game to Texas tech on a last second touchdown. This year they win a on a last second field goal. Things finally go right for Texas and they will meet Alabama in the National Championship game.

'Bama: In
In a somewhat stunning game Alabama rolled over Florida as only they could do, in a dominant 32-13 win. So that punches Alabama's ticket to Pasadena for the National Championship Game. But who will the opponent be? Texas, needs only to beat 22 Nebraska in order to get into the big game. But if they lose, we will have a mess. But since I have no emotional connection to Texas, I hope they lose because that would create a mother-sized BCS mess. The Machine would have to pick either Cincinnati, TCU or do the unthinkable and pick Florida. No matter who the BCS Machine picks, there would be serious controversy. If it picks TCU, people would be in an uproar that an undefeated major conference team got left out. If it takes Cincinnati, the little conference executives would go insane because TCU got snubbed. But the BCS machine could do the unthinkable and take Florida. Not only would that create a rematch of a game we have already seen, but it would mean that a one loss team got taken over an undefeated team.
As i write this, the score Texas 10, Nebraska 9 early 4th quarter. I hope that craziness will ensue.

BCS Picture
Alright it's time to discuss the BCS picture. Take a look at the link to see how the games break down. It also comes with an explanation of how the at large teams are selected.
Here are my predictions for the 5 major match-ups. Im just picking who will be in them.
BCS CHAMPIONSHIP: Florida vs Texas. (Pasadena, CA)
I think Florida will beat alabama in the SEC championship and take this spot. Texas should handle Nebraska in its championship game and with Alabama losing, Texas will slide up from #3 to #2 landing in Pasedena.
ORANGE BOWL: Geogria Tech vs. Cincinnati (Miami, FL)
Both teams would have to win a big game to win its conference but I think Georgia Teach will handle Clemson while Cincy handles Pittsburgh landing the two in Miami
ROSE BOWL: Oregon vs. Ohio St. (Pasedena, CA)
This game is always Big 10 vs Pac-10. Ohio St. wrapped up the Big Ten last week but Oregon still needs to beat Oregon St. in the Civil war to land here.
SUGAR BOWL: Alabama vs. TCU (New Orleans, LA)
Alabama would get stuck here after a loss to Florida and TCU would be picked to play here as an AT LARGE.
FIESTA BOWL: Iowa vs. Boise St. (Phoenix, AZ)
If this is the match-up, it would be the first bowl game that inlcuded two AT LARGE teams. Iowa would have the highest ranking of the remaining teams not to be picked for a bowl game and Boise is undefeated and sitting at 6th in the rankings.

Week Review
This week, nothing in particular happened that shocked me. 3 top 15 teams lost but none of those team's situations have changed. #7 Georgia Tech will still play in the ACC chmapionship, #12 Oklahoma St. wasn't going to get a BCS bowl anyway, and #9 Pittsburgh will still get a BCS bowl if they defeat #5 Cincinnati on Thursday. Texas, Alabama, and Florida won setting up our national championship picture. Texas will play #22 Nebraska If Texas wins they are in the National Championship. Alabama (as we have heard enough hype) will play Florida. Winner, obviously, to the championship. But what if Texas losses? then we have a mess. And I really hope Texas DOES lose. Because this would leave the other championship spot open. Who would fill it? The rankings would indicate that #4 TCU would be next in line, but as I've discussed before, they play in a small conference. Would the BCS machine jump #5 Cincinnati to the championship game? These are just hypothetical situations as #3 Texas is 17 point favorites in the game vs Nebraska but, either way, I cant wait.

Unfinished buisness
Its Thanksgiving week all but one of the major conference championships are yet to be decided. Of the 6 major conferences (Big East, Big 10, Big Twelve, ACC, SEC, and Pac-10) only the Big Ten has its champion, Ohio St. Here are the remaining conferences and the games that will decide them (Winner takes the title)
Big East: #5 Cincinnati @ #9 Pittsburgh
Big 12: #3 Texas VS. #22 Nebraska (Game Played in Arlington, TX)
ACC: #7 Georgia Tech VS. #18 Clemson (Tampa Bay, FL)
Pac-10: #16 Oregon St. @ #8 Oregon
SEC: #2 Alabama VS. #1 Florida (Atlanta, GA)
I'll be looking forward to all of these games, particularly the 'Bama-Florida, 1 vs 2 showdown on a neutral field. There is no better way to decide a better team than in a game like that
